VIOLETA BY MANGO

 

Starting From the fifteenth of January 2014 Mango will launch on internet a new line of clothes callled “violeta” ,and from the seventeenth it Will be available in the shops of seven countries,France,Germany,Italy,the Netherlands ,Turkey,Russia and Spain.The collection consists of confortable and female garments ranging from size 40 to size 52. All piece of collection are  created size for size not with mathematical calculations used in the production chain. I think it’s a very positive thing that a chain as important as mango realize a collection for women more shapely or “not anorexics”. The fashion world continues to discriminate the large sizes, selling clothes for really really skinny people ! I’m sure that in the future all the big chains will begin to produce collections for curvy women , anyway for the moment we can wait for “violeta”!

Valerie Steele is director and chief curator of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she has organized more than 20 exhibitions since 1997,She is also founder and editor in chief of Fashion Theory:  The Journal of Dress, Body & Culture.Fashion Theory takes as its starting point a definition of ‘fashion’ as the cultural construction of the embodied identity. The importance of studying the body as a site for the deployment of discourses has been well established in a number of disciplines. Until Fashion Theory’s launch 11 years ago, the dressed body had suffered from a lack of critical analysis. Increasingly scholars have recognized the cultural significance of self-fashioning, including not only clothing but also such body alterations as tattooing and piercing. She was Listed in New York Daily News as one of Fashion’s 50 Most Powerful People and i think it’s really true because the fashion is something that affects everyone and everything being in constant evolution and affects the lives of many people.

THE LITTLE BLACK JACKET

The little jacket is a famous garment invented by Coco Chanel .The current Chanel’s fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld ,a fashion editor ,revisited this item of the fashion history. It’s a simple black jacket with the famous characteristics of the brand since its beginning .Is a semi-tight five-buttons jacket with three pockets, in black tweed . In 2012 was inaugurated an exhibition that consists of photos made to ​​known personalities that are wearing the black jacket ,such as actresses, models and artists like Alice Dellal, Uma Turman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Vanessa Paradis, Yoko Ono and Roberto Bolle.The event started from Tokyo and then moved to London , Pechino, Dubai, Singapore ,Paris , Milan and from the 9th of November is in Sao Paolo .I think is a really cool and clever idea to promote an item in this way mostly if we are talking about a Chanel’s jacket ,that it was an important step forward for the woman and also for the history of fashion.
